1994 Jeep Wrangler Owners Manual

1994 Jeep Wrangler Owners Manual - Halo ladies and gentleman welcome to Owners Manual blog. You are now reading the info about 1994 Jeep Wrangler. Here, we provide to you the link to download or buying this car's manual book. But in this case, we strongly recommend you to read the review first.

What is the consumer reviews for the 1994 Jeep Wrangler according to edmunds?
As I write this the 4.0L 6cyl has been retired and the new Wranglers now have a minivan motor.(sad day) As you can tell from the first sentence I love the old 4.0/6cyl. The 4.0 and 5spd manual is the most desirable stock engine/tranny combo if you are shopping for a Wrangler YJ from 91- 95. This is a reliable vehicle now with 133,000 on the clock all I have done is replaced a rusted/leak radiator and water pump. Jeeps do perform best with regular preventitive maintence. (plugs, wires, oil-changes in engine, diffs, transfer case & axles) The ride is rough which should be expected and learn to love it. If ride quality is your concern I would recommend going straight to a TJ (97- 06)or new JK

The option of unstoppable 4wd in the winter/off road and being Topless in the spring, summer & fall; Good heater; Durable and easy to clean interior; Simple dash layout; Small size makes turning around in the woods easy; 4.0L - 5spd AX15 transmission; Square headlights ;)

Frame and body can be prone to bad rust problems in salt belt states. Pull up the carpet and look at the floor on driver/passenger sides and around roll bars if thinking about purchasing. Check frame for rust as well. Poke around frame with a screwdriver to check for rotting due to rust;

1993 Jeep Wrangler Owners Manual

1993 Jeep Wrangler Owners Manual - Halo ladies and gentleman welcome to Owners Manual blog. You are now reading the info about 1993 Jeep Wrangler. Here, we provide to you the link to download or buying this car's manual book. But in this case, we strongly recommend you to read the review first.

According to cargurus  for the 1993 Jeep Wrangler. The 1993 Jeep Wrangler was panned by many for its decidely un-Wrangler-like square headlights.

Despite the long nine-year production run, there are few trim levels, and they haven't changed much -- the base model and a few fancier editions such as the Islander, Laredo, Renegade, Sahara, and Rio Grande.

Here is what drivers say: Cargo space is tight; the soft-top is a hard to manage; the ride is bumpy and noisy. But with the top down, the doors off, the windshield folded down, the Jeep Wrangler is unlike any other vehicle.

What is the consumer reviews for the 1992 Jeep Wrangler according to edmunds ? .
Bought my 92 Wrangler used with 33K miles on it. I've driven it over 200K since and she still purrs like a kitten and looks great after a new paint job a few years back. I'm only a shade tree mechanic with a ratchet set and I find it extremely easy to maintain. The inline 4.0, 6 cylinder engine is the best around. Keep the oil clean and it will take care of you. I just replaced the radiator myself with that same old ratchet set. Biggest and easiest repair I've had to make. I confess she is my second car now but she is also my favorite toy to this day. Plan on keeping her forever and giving it to my 2 year old when he is of age. He's already calling it his Jeep.

Favorite Features
6 cylinder engine full size doors

Suggested Improvements
Door locks get mushy in bad weather. Other than that, I prefer the YJ over the newer TJ.

2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners Manual

2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners Manual - Halo ladies and gentleman welcome to Owners Manual blog. You are now reading the info about 2012Jeep Grand Cherokee. Here, we provide to you the link to download or buying this car's manual book. But in this case, we strongly recommend you to read the review first.

According to edmunds for 2012 the Grand Cherokee. For 2012, the Jeep Grand Cherokee slightly improves its fuel economy and adds a couple of trim levels, including the posh Overland Summit and the return of the hot-rod SRT8 variant.

The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee reminds us of Rocky Balboa (the pre-Ivan Drago fight one), having made the transition from underdog to top contender. Prior to last year's complete overhaul, the Grand Cherokee offered rugged off-road capability but a substandard cabin, substandard passenger space and an underpowered but thirsty V6. But the 2012 Grand Cherokee, with its well-trimmed and roomier interior, powerful V6 and more refined performance and ride, is in fighting shape as a top contender among midsize SUVs.

The current Grand Cherokee shares components with Mercedes-Benz's ML-Class -- DaimlerChrysler owned Jeep during this vehicle's early development -- so its premium look and feel is no surprise. Drive a pre-'11 Grand Cherokee and the new one back to back, and the upgrades in cabin quality, performance and overall refinement are dramatic. And this year there's slightly better fuel economy (up 1 highway mpg for each engine) through improved power steering in the V6 and a revised six-speed transmission for the V8. This year also heralds the return of the road-burning Grand Cherokee SRT8 and its monster 470-horsepower V8.

The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a five-passenger midsize SUV that comes in Laredo, Limited and Overland trims. Each is available with 4x2 or 4x4 drivetrains.

The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee comes standard with four-wheel antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front side airbags, side curtain airbags and active front head restraints. In Edmunds brake testing, the Overland V6 stopped from 60 mph in 125 feet, a good result for this segment. The SRT8 made the same stop in an impressive 112 feet.

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners Manual

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners Manual - Halo ladies and gentleman welcome to Owners Manual blog. You are now reading the info about 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Here, we provide to you the link to download or buying this car's manual book. But in this case, we strongly recommend you to read the review first.

According to edmunds for 2011 the Grand Cherokee. Americans love comeback stories. The Yankees won four games straight in the 1996 World Series, for instance, and John Travolta revitalized his career by starring in "Pulp Fiction." So there would seem to be hope for the Jeep Grand Cherokee, a vehicle that's had a tough time recently but is set to make a pretty big comeback for 2011.

To start a comeback, it helps to be near the bottom. Conveniently, the previous Grand Cherokee had this covered. Though capable (as it's always been) off-road, the "JGC" was stuck with numerous drawbacks, including a cramped backseat, low-buck interior materials and poor gas mileage. In contrast, the new model is meant to be much more premium and now shares some of its parts with the similarly redesigned Mercedes-Benz ML-Class (Jeep was owned by DaimlerChrysler during the early development days of this vehicle).

The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a five-passenger midsize SUV that comes in Laredo, Limited and Overland trims. Each is available in 4x2 and 4x4 guises. Standard equipment includes 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, foglamps, cruise control, keyless ignition, dual-zone air-conditioning, a power driver seat, a tilt-and-telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel and a six-speaker audio system with satellite radio, an auxiliary audio jack and a CD player. The Security and Convenience Group adds remote ignition, Bluetooth, a cargo cover, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a USB/iPod interface. A back-up camera, a power passenger seat, leather upholstery and a nine-speaker stereo with HD radio, a subwoofer and a touchscreen interface are also available.

Every 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee comes standard with Chrysler's new 3.6-liter V6 good for 290 hp and 260 pound-feet of torque. A five-speed automatic transmission is standard. Fuel economy with four-wheel drive is an estimated 16 mpg city and 22 mpg highway. The optional 5.7-liter V8 produces 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque and is rated 13 mpg city/19 mpg highway. Properly equipped, the JGC can tow 7,400 pounds.

Get behind the wheel and you'll immediately notice that the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee drives considerably better than before. The suspension offers a more comfortable ride while also providing a fair amount of stability while cornering; basically, the Grand Cherokee now rides and handles like any other modern crossover. Off-road, the JGC maintains its reputation as a capable performer thanks to good ground clearance and an advanced four-wheel-drive system.

2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners Manual

2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners Manual - Halo ladies and gentleman welcome to Owners Manual blog. You are now reading the info about 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Here, we provide to you the link to download or buying this car's manual book. But in this case, we strongly recommend you to read the review first.

According to edmunds for 2010 the Grand Cherokee. For 2010, the Jeep Grand Cherokee's Overland trim level has been discontinued, as have the 4.7-liter V8 and diesel engine options. Also, the lineup sees a shuffling of minor features among surviving trim levels. The Jeep Grand Cherokee's silhouette is no stranger to wilderness trails or metropolitan highways. As one of the first mainstream SUVs to hit the market back in the early '90s, the Grand Cherokee has long been a popular choice for people wanting a vehicle that possesses both off-road prowess and respectable urban civility. The 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee (JGC) stays close to its off-roading roots thanks to an advanced four-wheel-drive system, and for the most part, it's still a pretty civil vehicle to drive. Add to that the JGC's maximum towing capacity of 7,400 pounds and you can see why the "utility" in "SUV" is well deserved.

The 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and Limited models come standard with a 3.7-liter V6 that makes 210 horsepower and 235 pound-feet of torque. Buyers may opt for a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 good for 357 hp and 389 lb-ft of torque. The high-performance SRT8 model receives a 6.1-liter V8 that generates 420 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed automatic is the only transmission available across the board.

Four-wheel-drive Laredos come with the Quadra-Trac I system, which essentially functions as all-wheel drive. Optional on the Laredo and standard on the Limited is the full-time Quadra-Trac II system, which adds a set of low-range gears. The Quadra-Drive II system, available on both Laredo and Limited, combines a two-speed transfer case with front, rear and center electronic limited-slip differentials. Grand Cherokees equipped with Quadra-Drive II include hill descent control, hill start assist and skid plates. The SRT8 comes with an exclusive all-wheel-drive system that's optimized for performance driving.

If you're interested in towing, your best option is the 5.7-liter V8, which gives a properly equipped Grand Cherokee a tow capacity of 7,400 pounds.

Considering the 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee's off-road prowess, its on-road manners are surprisingly good. Steering is precise and handling is mostly sure-footed, although the suspension can be jittery over cracks and potholes. In off-road situations, the Jeep's generous wheel travel and advanced 4WD hardware earn it true mountain-goat status.

2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners Manual

2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners Manual - Halo ladies and gentleman welcome to Owners Manual blog. You are now reading the info about 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Here, we provide to you the link to download or buying this car's manual book. But in this case, we strongly recommend you to read the review first.

According to edmunds for 2009 the Grand Cherokee. The 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee's uplevel 5.7-liter V8 gets power and fuel economy boosts, while the high-performance SRT8 model gets additional leather interior surfaces and a performance trip computer. Grand Cherokees fitted with the navigation system gain an iPod interface this year as well.

Do your SUV requirements include significant off-road ability? If so, the 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee might be your ride of choice. Three different four-wheel-drive systems (Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II and Quadra-Drive II) provide escalating off-road abilities, from low-grade trail busting to "Pack Mule Only." And if you need to tow large objects, the JGC's maximum towing capacity is a significant 7,400 pounds.

The 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a five-passenger midsize SUV available in four trim levels: Laredo, Limited, Overland and SRT8. All trims but one are available with either rear- or four-wheel drive. The high-performance SRT8 is all-wheel drive only.

The JGC Laredo comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, all-terrain tires, a roof rack, an eight-way power driver seat, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel with audio controls, a 60/40-split rear seatback, cruise control, a trip computer and a six-speaker stereo with a CD player and an auxiliary audio jack. Options on the Laredo include a sunroof, a rear back-up camera with parking sensors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, power-adjustable pedals, a power passenger seat, heated front seats, remote ignition, leather upholstery, a universal garage door opener, Bluetooth, a navigation system, real-time traffic, an upgraded six-speaker stereo with satellite radio, an iPod interface and a hard drive for digital music storage.

Safety features include antilock disc brakes, stability control and standard side curtain airbags with a roll-detection system. The stability control system includes trailer sway control on Overland models; it's optional on the Laredo and Limited. The JGC earned a perfect five stars in all government front and side crash tests. In Insurance Institute for Highway Safety testing, the Grand Cherokee earned the best rating of "Good" in the frontal-offset test but the second worst rating of "Marginal" in the side test.

2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners Manual

2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners Manual - Halo ladies and gentleman welcome to Owners Manual blog. You are now reading the info about 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Here, we provide to you the link to download or buying this car's manual book. But in this case, we strongly recommend you to read the review first.

According to edmunds for 2008 the Grand Cherokee.Jeep has heavily revised the Grand Cherokee's 4.7-liter V8 for 2008, and this popular engine is now rated at 305 horsepower -- nearly as much as the larger Hemi V8. The company has also given the cabin a much-needed refresh, adding more soft-touch surfaces, upgraded lighting and a telescoping steering wheel. Newly available features include xenon HID headlights, the MyGIG hard-drive-based audio/navigation system, a back-up camera, a rear entertainment system and Sirius Backseat TV. For buyers planning to tap into the JGC's utility, technology like hill descent control, hill start assist and trailer sway control is now offered as well. Finally, availability of the diesel V6 has been expanded to the base Laredo model.

A five-passenger midsize SUV, the 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee comes in four trim levels: Laredo, Limited, Overland and SRT8. All trims are available with either two- or four-wheel drive except the SRT8, which is all-wheel drive only.

Many of the features on the Limited and Overland are available as options on the Laredo and SRT8. Additional options, depending on the trim level, include a rear entertainment system, Sirius Backseat TV and towing preparation.

Acceleration is barely adequate with the gasoline V6, so we'd steer most buyers toward the 4.7-liter V8, or the diesel V6 in the states where it is sold. Either of the Hemis provides more exciting performance, but fuel economy suffers. Considering the 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee's all-terrain talents, its road manners are surprisingly good. Steering is precise and handling is mostly sure-footed, though the suspension loses composure over crumbling expressway pavement. In off-road situations, the Jeep's generous wheel travel and advanced 4WD hardware give it a high level of capability.

2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners Manual

2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners Manual - Halo ladies and gentleman welcome to Owners Manual blog. You are now reading the info about 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Here, we provide to you the link to download or buying this car's manual book. But in this case, we strongly recommend you to read the review first.

According to edmunds for 2007 the Grand Cherokee. After going through a full redesign two years ago, the Jeep Grand Cherokee receives a few changes for 2007. Most notably, the Grand Cherokee is expanding its powertrain options and will now offer a diesel engine, as well as an all-new flex-fuel-capable V8 engine that can also run on E85. Additional safety features are now included as standard equipment across the lineup as well.

The 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee, now in its third generation, went through a full redesign a few years ago. It offers increased capability and much improved on-road ride and handling dynamics, thanks to an advanced independent coil-over front suspension, four-wheel antilock disc brakes and electronically controlled four-wheel drive. The exterior design remains unmistakably Jeep, with its signature round headlights and seven-slot front grille.

A 3.7-liter V6 is the standard engine, but Grand Cherokee is also available with a 4.7-liter V8 and a 5.7-liter V8 with variable displacement technology. For 2007, a new 3.0-liter common-rail diesel (CRD) engine is available, as well as a new flex-fuel-capable 4.7-liter V8 engine. This gives customers the option of filling up with E85, a corn-distilled blend that uses up to an 85 percent concentration of ethanol.

Meanwhile, the Grand Cherokee SRT8 is Jeep's answer to the BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne turbo. Chrysler's Street and Racing Technology (SRT) group is responsible for infusing the otherwise benign Grand Cherokee with some serious attitude. Packing a 6.1-liter Hemi V8 with 420 horsepower, raw power is not an issue. To get all that muscle to the pavement, the SRT folks replaced the Grand Cherokee's regular four-wheel-drive system with a custom all-wheel-drive setup.

Overall, we think pretty highly of the 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. With its tasteful interior upgrade that includes a more upscale-appearing instrument cluster and shifter, the SUV offers more luxury and comfort than ever before, but still maintains the rugged character and function that made the Jeep nameplate what it is today.

2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners Manual

2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners Manual - Halo ladies and gentleman welcome to Owners Manual blog. You are now reading the info about 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Here, we provide to you the link to download or buying this car's manual book. But in this case, we strongly recommend you to read the review first.

According to edmunds for 2006 the Grand Cherokee.  Jeep expands the Grand Cherokee lineup for 2006 with the addition of a range-topping Overland trim level. It's been fitted with more standard luxury features and 5.7-liter V8. New standard features on all models include stability control and one-touch up-down front windows. Newly optional on the Laredo is the Quadra-Trac II four-wheel-drive system and an off-road package.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee midsize SUV is available in three trim levels: Laredo, Limited and Overland. Standard Laredo features include power windows and door locks, air conditioning, a power driver seat, split-folding rear seat, a reversible cargo floor with water-resistant storage and a CD stereo. The Limited model adds two-tone leather seating, a power front-passenger seat, automatic dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable pedals, rain-sensing automatic wipers, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a Boston Acoustics audio system with in-dash CD changer and MP3 capability.

Smooth is the operative word when describing the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The suspension dampens imperfections in the road well, and the rack and pinion steering provides a solid and responsive road feel. The all-wheel drive grabs pavement with gusto and on tight roads this Jeep SUV is very nimble with minimal body roll. Even though the raucous 5.7-liter V8 provides gobs of low-end thrust, the 3.7-liter V6 and 4.7-liter V8 are smooth and provide more than enough power for most applications.

2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners Manual - Halo ladies and gentleman welcome to Owners Manual blog. You are now reading the info about 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Here, we provide to you the link to download or buying this car's manual book. But in this case, we strongly recommend you to read the review first.

According to autos-aol for 2005 the Grand Cherokee.  The introduction of the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee represents a bold move by DaimlerChrysler. The 2005 Grand Cherokee is not a Jeep from the tradition of American Motors, but rather a Jeep from the Mercedes-Benz tradition, with a little Dodge Magnum attitude thrown in.

You can't mistake it for anything but a Jeep.Yet its proportions are completely different from before, with more steel and less glass, a laid-back windshield, the trademark giant wheel well flares, and a slickly angular body without the cladding of the previous generations; just one small spear. The D-pillar has been laid forward, which cuts into cargo space, but it sure looks cool. It's got a replaceable chin spoiler on it, and it looks mean.Inside, it's got nearly 70 cubic feet of storage and three modern, if not brand-new, powerplants.

Interior materials are dramatically improved over the previous model's, which left much to be desired. The atmosphere inside the new Grand Cherokee is light, comfortable, and more enveloping than the previous model, more bolted in than hanging on from the driver's perspective, with lots of seat adjustment, excellent outward vision around the relatively slim posts, and all the switches and controls clearly labeled and easy to find and use.

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners Manual

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners Manual - Halo ladies and gentleman welcome to Owners Manual blog. You are now reading the info about 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Here, we provide to you the link to download or buying this car's manual book. But in this case, we strongly recommend you to read the review first.

According to edmunds for 2004, the Grand Cherokee gets a factory-installed DVD navigation system integrated into the radio. Columbia, Freedom and Special Edition trims are also new for 2004. All of these models incorporate subtle cosmetic touches and equipment upgrades. Additionally, each Columbia Edition Jeep comes with a complimentary Columbia parka.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee has been around the block and beyond. The 'ute first kicked up dust in 1993 when it was introduced as Jeep's flagship entry into the mainstream SUV market, providing the off-road charms of the more utilitarian Cherokee but spruced up and smoothed out for slightly more upscale tastes. Families looking for a stylish minivan alternative flocked to the Grand Cherokee; it became the second-best-selling SUV in America, and managed to hold on to that coveted title for years.

For the 1999 model year, the Grand Cherokee received a top-to-bottom redesign. New steering, suspension and brake systems were introduced, along with two new engines.

In recent years, there has been a steady influx of capable new entrants in the SUV race; this has taken a toll on the Grand Cherokee's popularity. In an effort to restore the 'ute to its former glory, Jeep gave the Grand Cherokee additional nips and tucks in 2002, the biggest of these, a new high-output 4.7-liter V8 that offered 30 more horsepower and 35 more lb-ft of torque.

According to edmunds for 2003, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has received refinements that improve its ride and handling. The suspension features reduced pressure shocks and the brake master cylinder output has been increased to improve brake pedal feel. There are also new brake calipers and a revised steering gear torsion bar. Available trims have been narrowed from five to three; the Sport and Special Edition trims have been discontinued. Standard on 2003 Laredo models is a new high-back cloth seat. Finally, in all Jeep Grand Cherokee interiors, a new cubby bin for holding sunglasses or cellular phones has been added to the instrument panel, replacing the ashtray.

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners Manual

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners Manual - Halo ladies and gentleman welcome to Owners Manual blog. You are now reading the info about 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Here, we provide to you the link to download or buying this car's manual book. But in this case, we strongly recommend you to read the review first.

What is the consumer reviews for The 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee according to edmunds

Bought fresh off the lot in 2002 for over 50 grand. Nothing but problems from the get go, and the dealership hoses you! Jeep has awful customer service. Though a nice looking vehicle on the outside, i've had the heat fixed twice now, A/C is on its third break. I swear, heat works in the summer and ac works in the winter. It started making an awful whirring sound and I noticed it was leaking fluids all over the driveway, took it to the dealer and they wanted over 6 THOUSAND DOLLARS to fix everything!! Turns out it was leaking coolant, power steering pump was cracked, and the gas caps seem to be famous for giving out on these. Now transmission is going..
My favorite feature :
Semi-trendy looking. Absolute hog on gas, pay about 80 bucks a tank and get around 400-450km/tank if I am lucky. It's comfortable to sit in but not reliable AT ALL!

2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners Manual

2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners Manual - Halo ladies and gentleman welcome to Owners Manual blog. You are now reading the info about 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Here, we provide to you the link to download or buying this car's manual book. But in this case, we strongly recommend you to read the review first.

According to edmunds for The 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Jeep's rough-and-ready Grand Cherokee is one of the best-selling SUVs on the market, and it's easy to see why. With ruggedly handsome styling, roomy comfort for four adults, plenty of cargo space, and unsurpassed abilities both on and off the highway, Grand Cherokee delivers what most people want in family transport.

Grand Cherokee's Jeep-genetics are obvious with just one glance. A vertical slot grille, trapezoidal wheel openings, and steep approach and departure angles all announce "Jeep" loudly and clearly. Outfitted with recirculating-ball steering, a three-link rear suspension and front Quadra Link coil suspension, the truck delivers a stable and carlike ride, and handles like a pro both on and off the pavement.

The Grand's standard engine is a 4.0-liter inline six that produces 195 horsepower and 230 foot-pounds of torque. This aged powerplant provides disappointing acceleration and lacks refinement in terms of NVH control. Next step up is the optional 4.7-liter V8 with the new five-speed automatic transmission. We heartily recommend the V8, which brews up 235 horsepower and 295 foot-pounds of twisting force. That may not sound like much. In fact, this hearty power-maker provides acceleration on par with some muscle cars.

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners Manual

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Owners Manual - Halo ladies and gentleman welcome to Owners Manual blog. You are now reading the info about 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Here, we provide to you the link to download or buying this car's manual book. But in this case, we strongly recommend you to read the review first.

According to edmunds for The 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The designers of the Jeep Grand Cherokee are taking some much needed RandR following last year's introduction of the second-generation Grand, so there have been no significant mechanical or appearance changes. It was the first redesign since its 1992 introduction (as a '93 model), and the public basically gained an all-new best-of-the-best Jeep. Signature items like the vertical slot grille and trapezoidal wheel openings remained but were altered just enough to distance it from the previous generation. It was also made 4 inches longer and outfitted with redesigned recirculating-ball steering, a fresh three-link rear suspension, and front Quadra Link coil suspension that make it stable and carlike, and handle like a pro. Another notable improvement was the new automatic transmission, which increases initial acceleration and provides smoother shifting between gears.

The Grand's standard engine is a 4.0-liter inline six, and the next step up is the optional 4.7-liter V8. In fact, this potent power-maker has been such a hit that Chrysler is morphing from it a version for the 2000 Durango and Dakota.

You'll find cloth surroundings standard inside the Laredo, while the Limited lets you slide behind the wheel in leather-trimmed comfort (optional on the Laredo); the leather front seats feature 10-way power-seating choices, but you'll likely find your comfort level short of that. We're huge fans of the behind-the-wheel stereo controls (standard on Limited, optional on Laredo), the Infinity sound system and the Infrared Dual Zone Climate Control System that allows the driver and passenger to have separate control settings.
